Jay Pea, founder of Save Standard Time, chronicles and debunks the many libelous claims of conspiracy made by Scott Yates of Lock the Clock.

For over a year, Scott Yates has:

  • Asked my name and funding dozens of times, and continually refused the answers.
  • Written dozens of false, defamatory tweets, with no evidence, against the personal character of me, my nonprofit, and my associates (displayed below).
  • Written two blog posts of 4,000 words that make dozens of false and defamatory claims, with no evidence, against the personal character of me, my nonprofit, and my associates (displayed below).
  • Admitted in public writing his intention to affect my reputation (displayed below).

I have made no public statements regarding the personal character of Scott, his businesses, or his associates. I write this statement only to debunk the misinformation he publishes against me.

Scott Yates’ Questions Answered Again

Scott Yates of Lock the Clock has repeatedly asked my name and funding—while refusing the answers.

My name is Jay Pea. I’m a software engineer and amateur astronomer in San Francisco, originally from Iowa. I founded Save Standard Time in 2019 as a nonprofit, volunteer-run, donor-funded campaign to preserve and extend the observation of longitudinally correct Standard Time, as is supported by thousands of advocates for health, safety, education, economy, environment, and civil liberties. I am not a professional lobbyist, I don’t run a major fundraising effort, and the majority of time and money contributed have come from me.

This information is public. It’s in the footer of Save Standard Time’s website, and in greater detail on the About page. It’s on my personal LinkedIn. It’s reported in news (Kaiser Health News, NBC News, Salon, Yahoo! News). I’ve said it on video alongside Member of the European Parliament Izaskun Bilbao Barandica, Neurophysiologist Javier Albares, and Natural Time Advocate Ticia Luengo Hendriks. It’s been offered to Scott in many tweets (Example, Example, Example, Example, Example, Example, Example, Example, Example, Example, Example, Example, Example, Example).

Scott Yates’ Aspersions Documented

My first words to Scott were a tweeted request to consider evidence. His first words to me were a tweeted accusation of spam. To this I replied with assurance that all SST tweets are unique, and with apology for him taking offense.

Over the next year, Scott tweeted (see the end of this page below) dozens of insults and false accusations, without evidence, against me, my nonprofit, and my associates. When offered answers or evidence (here, here, here, here, here, here), he responded with mockery (here, here, here) or silence (here, here).

More examples of Scott’s tweets are linked and displayed at the bottom of this page.

Soon after these interactions began, I emailed Scott an offer to discuss details and provide further evidence. He replied against with insults and accusations, then silence.

Scott soon wrote two blog posts (here and here), totaling 4,000 words, composed of dozens of insults and false accusations, without evidence, against me, my nonprofit, and my associates.

Scott’s blog posts also admitted his purpose — to affect my reputation in the eyes of the policymakers whom we contact:

If you’ve recently received a note from someone using the name “Jay Pea” about Daylight Saving Time, and are searching to find out what the deal is, I’ve got answers for you here… some of those notes have made their way back to me from legislators hoping I can shed some light on who is behind those notes.

Scott’s words are surprising, given that he repeatedly claims on his LinkedIn, blogs, and other social media to be against misinformation.

The remainder of this page will simply link and display more of Scott Yates’ own tweets.
